Fancy some arts and crafts fun with some 5-8 year old crafty little scamps? Well join us for a few hours while we play games and make art with primary school children. Great if you want to gain some valuable experience for a career working with young children too!

How to become an Action volunteer... in 4 EASY steps!

  1. Complete an Action membership form and pay the £5 Action membership fee - this allows you to participate in all the project activities for FREE for one whole year and you will also be given a FREE Action t-shirt.
  2. Attend an Action Induction session to learn more about Action, our policies and meet other new Action members. These are arranged on a weekly basis and last around 40 minutes.
  3. Complete a CRB form (criminal record check) and pay a £10 deposit - this can be claimed back once you have volunteered on 3 projects or 1 residential trip.
  4. Submit 2 references - one personal and one professional.

This can all be done by coming and seeing Dave, the volunteer admin worker, in the Volunteering Office (upstairs in the Union, turn right and the office is through the double doors in the corner) at the following times:

Monday to Friday 1pm till 5pm

Once these 4 steps are completed you can volunteer on our projects. Your CRB must be returned before you can volunteer on any project involving vulnerable people therefore at the moment the only project you can volunteer on without having a returned CRB is Green Streets.

Your CRB can take upto 6 weeks to be returned therefore it is best to get it sent off as soon as possible. In the meantime, get in touch to find out how you can get involved in other aspects of Action such as fundraising and socials!!

Registering for Action is a two step process. We're really pleased that you want to get involved, but before we can take you on our projects, we have to complete a CRB check with you and process your details. You can sign up to the site now, and as soon as we've processed your checks and information, we'll activate your account - you'll be emailed when it's ready!

It's important for us to have your full name and phone number in case of emergencies - this information is only available to Action administrators.
