Join Action in 3 easy steps!

1. Register as a member for FREE online.

2. Visit the Volunteering and Community office between 1.30pm and 5pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday (upstairs in the Union). Here you will need to fill in a Criminal Records Bureau form, a check we have to make to be sure our volunteers are able to volunteer with vulnerable people. To find out more please read our screening policy. This requires a £10  deposit, which you’ll get back as soon as  you volunteer for Action. Please Note: The CRB checks are changing. New forms will be arriving in April 2010 but the company will not start processing these till July. You will be able to complete the new forms once we have them but as there are not many projects happening till September it may be better to wait till the new term.

3. Once all your details have been confirmed, you can start signing up for projects online.  Happy volunteering!

Your CRB can take upto 6 weeks to be returned therefore it is best to get it sent off as soon as possible. In the meantime, get in touch to find out how you can get involved in other aspects of Action such as fundraising and socials. We hope to see you soon!

Unfortunately due to a change in CRB policy volunteers who are international students, or have lived outside of the UK for more than 24 months, will not be covered by our CRB checks. In some cases this will mean that volunteers will not be able to volunteer on projects with children and older people. Please contact the Volunteering and Community office for details of checks that will apply to you or follow this link
