Join Action in 3 easy steps!

1. Create an account on this website.

2. New to this year- Please purchase an "Action-Standard Membership on the LUU website. This will register with Leeds University Union. Don't worry, we've set the purchase price to £0.00! It's completely free to join Action! Click here to go to the LUU website

3. Visit the Opportunities office between 1pm-4pm Monday - Friday (level 2 of the Union, take the lift from opposite the refectory and you'll be outside it). Here you will need to fill in a Criminal Records Bureau form, a check we have to make to be sure our volunteers are able to volunteer with vulnerable people. To find out more please read our screening policy. This requires a £10  deposit, which you’ll get back as soon as  you volunteer for Action.

Compulsory Training - Attend a short induction and complete Child Protection Training (you will receive a certificate from the Leeds Safeguarding Children Board for this).

Once all your details have been confirmed, you can start signing up for projects online. If you have any issues with things not being confirmed on the website when you think they should be just come up to the opportunities office and talk to Jo.

Your CRB can take upto 6 weeks to be returned therefore it is best to get it sent off as soon as possible. In the meantime, get in touch to find out how you can get involved in other aspects of Action such as fundraising, training and socials. We hope to see you soon! Happy volunteering!

Unfortunately due to a change in CRB policy volunteers who are international students, or have lived outside of the UK for more than 24 months, will not be covered by our CRB checks. In some cases this will mean that volunteers will not be able to volunteer on projects with children and older people. Please contact the Volunteering and Community office for details of checks that will apply to you or follow this link
